The Annual Plan for Himachal Pradesh for the year 2009-10 was finalized at a meeting, here, today between the Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia and the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal. Plan size for the current year was agreed at Rs. 2700 crores. This includes Special Plan assistance of Rs.500 crores for projects of importance to the State.
Planning Commission complimented the State Government for achievement in the social sector and pointed out that some of the indicators are better than the national average. Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, said health indices of Himachal Pradesh are better than other States. In the education sector performance is encouraging and the State government has set a target of achieving literacy rate of 96.74 per cent by the end of Eleventh Plan.
